You Can Be An IT Expert Too!

Are you upskilled in the IT area? Have you built your business’ website? Do you rely on an external IT contractor?

Since joining Teach it Forward back in March 2010 I joined forces with an IT contractor and he has trained me and taught me everything I know today. Our website is my baby and I continue to nurture it and update it on a weekly basis.  

I don’t need to call upon anyone to add text, photos, videos or move things around, I can do all of this myself!!  Yes there are areas and some things that are too tricky, in-depth and out of my capability which I need assistance with, but the general updating, adding and maintenance I can manage.  Certainly saves time and $$$!

The key to learning all this is the desire and want to learn.  Take lots and lots of notes, ask lots of questions and simply practice, practice, practice, because I learn best when I am physically doing something.

For small businesses, like us, they don’t necessarily have a large budget for IT which is why, we, as multi-talented PA’s need to step up and show the world we are capable of doing this too!

If you don’t have an external IT consultant, that’s OK, setting up a website has never been easier using the web platform called Word Press, which I am sure most of you are familiar with.  Word Press is a very simple and easy to learn software package to create a basic website or blog.  This web platform is used by small and large businesses and is much more cost effective and easier on the business’ cashflow.

I am amazed at what I know now compared to what I didn’t know back in March 2010!  This is just one of the many opportunities working with Trent and Teach it Forward has given me and is one of the many hats I wear as a multi-tasking PA!

Remember , up-skill yourself continuously!
